The most telling stat of Stroupe's season is this: He was 0-10 against teams that made the playoffs and 4-0 against those that did not. The storyline week to week with Stroupe was Ricky Williams, the only rookie ever taken in the first round. Stroupe drafted him with the 11th pick. Williams was a qualified bust, he only scored in one game all season. Stroupe did a lot better with the second pick: Indianapolis QBs. Fellow UT alumnus Peyton Manning carried Stroupe and kept him competative. Also productive was Mike Vanderjagt. Not usually good strategy to have a QB and kicker from the same team, but Vanderjagt led all BRFL kickers. It was the second year in a row a Stroupe kicker was all BRFL.

Stroupe had a tough start to the season, losing to Best and Jackson. He won in week 3 against Barry, but lost his next five absorbing 77 and 72 point beatings to Mo-ha and Outlaw along the way. In week 10, he faced off against another 1-9 team, Talbot. Stroupe won this toilet bowl. In week 11, Stroupe has his best game, whipping CZ 65-26. Ricky Williams scored twice and Manning and Vanderjagt both had huge games. Donnell Bennett also scored twice. It was only game where a Stroupe player (non QB, kicker or D) scored more than one TD in a game.

Best and Jackson won the rematches, and in week 14 Stroupe had a chance to make the playoffs if he beat CZ and Mo-ha and Peil won. Stroupe did his part, but nemesis JK beat Peil and Stroupe season was over.
